FAQ

Q. What gas does Aerobord use to insulate?

A. We only use air as the insulating gas, in this way we can offer life long insulation performance.

Q. Why is Aerobord not spelled Aeroboard?

A. Bord is the Irish spelling of Board.  The founders of the company were Irish speakers.

Q.What is EPS?

A. EPS is short for Expanded Polystyrene, commonly known as Aerobord in Ireland

Q. Why is the Platinum panel grey in colour?

A. Our insulations work in 3 main ways...

1. Preventing convection - the small air cells in our insulation trap air molecules, the cells are in the order of 100 microns in diameter, the trapped air cannot easily transfer it's energy to neighbouring cells, thus helping to limit the passage of heat.

2. Limiting conduction - the cell walls in Aerobord insulation are very thin and are poor at conducting heat.

3. Infra Red absorption - the grey colour comes from small flakes of a special type of graphite,  graphite is a very good absorber of infra red energy.  If you have the right amount of this special graphite, located properly and sized correctly you can improve the insulation performance by over 20% with no other change.

Q. What densities can I get Aerobord in?

A. Our white boards are available up to 40 kgs per m3, the platinum boards are available up to 30 kgs /m3.
